Fund Raising and Aid

As we reflect on ways to help the people of Haiti, what ideas do you have regarding the following:
What could be donated, how do we raise money and awareness and how do we involve others in our efforts?

  1. We all enjoy contributing, and helping out. We could set up another concert to help raise money. If Vic, and everyone, raise as much as you said Friday, we could raise just as much, and it's all something kids would want to come to. We could try to get a few more bands, and say $5 dollars to get in.
Or we could have a community dinner, pay a bit to get in, and have some nice home cooked food, and then all proceeds can go to Haiti Relief Aid.

  2. A fantastic artist I know, the Impatient Artist, recommended an art show. Would students be willing to contribute art, poetry, music etc for performance on a weekend? Could we contribute through the arts and athletics on a day to show off all the talents our students have to offer? I think that could be a opportunity for a fundraiser.

  3. I think that we could do something like we did this fall at the football games, only at Track meets, baseball and softball games (sorry if I missed a sport). Instead of raising for brest cancer, we could rasie for Haiti. I know that seems like a long ways away, but it's not like they will be all better and back on their feet by april.

  4. like i said in class, have a t-shirt design contest in the school. list a couple requirements & have the school vote for who's designs are the best. then pick like the top 3 or 4 designs, produce the shirts & sell them @ school events for $5-ish & all that money can go in the Haiti piggy bank.

  5. i found this on the net, and found it so wonderful, i went ahead and signed it. its to get rid of Haiti's $1 billion debt, and they are close to the goal.

  8. I like the t-shirt idea. I found out that the awareness ribbon colors, are those of Haiti's flag. We could make ribbons, and if we do the shirts, then the shirts could be made in those colors.

  9. We were talking about it in POD and came up with the idea of having another concert like the ACS one we did last week, but also having Student Government match whatever we make. The Student Government account needs to get rid of a bunch of money, and I'm pretty sure this is a much better use of our money than buying t-shirts and sweatshirts for members (that's what we were gonnna do...I don't think it's necessary xP). Also, I kind of like the idea of having some sort of a talent show. I know that in past years, they haven't gone so well, but what about making it an actual competition and opening it up to more than just performance? Anybody game for that?

  10. i really think we could make alot of money selling those silicone bracelets. anthony looked it up and we can get 250 for 89 cents a piece. sell them for like 2 or 3 bucks and weve got over $500. might just be me but i really love this idea.

  11. I gave you that kit sheet from United Methodist Committee On Relief (UMCOR) I know their legit. Since they formed by volunteers from my denomination, I know for a fact that all money donated goes to whomever they are providing relief to.
